Duo Coincidencia
With over 600 concerts and clinics all over Veracruz, performances in the most important concert halls on national and international level, Duo Coincidencia have reached beyond the Mexican borders receiving praise from audiences in countries like Cuba, Chile, United States, Venezuela, Poland, Turkey, Argentina and Spain.
Consisting of the Cuban-Mexican guitar player Martha Eugenia Salado and the Mexican guitarist Carlos Muñiz Díaz, the duo has been awarded three times by the National and State Fund for Culture and Arts. Duo Conicidencia has participated in reputable events of the international guitar world like Brownsville International Fest, Guitars in Cuba Fest, Viña del Mar and Valparaíso, Modern School of Músic and Alhambra Academy in Chile, Tajin Summit and Festival, International Meeting in Miami, EEUU and also has a no-less-important presence in most of the municipalities of their state. Likewise they have been invited to radio and television programs in Veracruz, the Veracruz University, Beethoven Radio (Chile) and Cuban Television.
Individually each member enjoy a solid professional career that has reached the top academic grades and has been awarded individually (and as group) by the National and State Fund to Culture and Arts for developing projects that promote and further investigate classical guitar music. Duo Coincidencia’s program includes national premieres, arrangements of outstanding musical pieces and popular Mexican songs arranged by the Duet as well as songs especially written for and dedicated to the duo.
Besides performing, they organize conferences and give master classes to pass their knowledge and skills on to a younger generation of musicians.
Master Martha Eugenia Salado Mondeja
Born in Cuba in 1973, she studied classical guitar at the National Vocational School of Arts “Olga Alonso” and later at the National Arts School in Havana, reaching the grade of a Professor, Instrumentalist and Practice Sets Teacher. Mondeja won First Prize in the National Concourse “Amadeo Roldán” and a honorary mention for the Best Interpretation of Cuban Music.
She has taken classes with outstanding teachers like Leo Brouwer, Rey Guerra, Joaquín Clerch, Rolando Moreno, David Russel, Álvaro Pierre and Eduardo Fernández.
As part of the Guitar Assemble of Havana she recorded two CDs, toured and participated in over 15 radio and television programs on Cuban Television.
In 1998 Mondeja received a´ scholarship to participate in the university courses “Music in Compostela” in Spain, and in that very same year she co-founded the Duo Coincidencia with Master Carlos Muñiz Díaz.
Since 2004 she has been working as professor at the Higher Music Institute in Veracruz.
Dr. Carlos Muñiz Díaz
Born in Mexico, Díaz enrolled at the Musical Conservatorium of the State of Mexico to study classical guitar, then enrolled at the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico and did his PhD in Public Rights at the University of Veracruz (the PhD thesis was “Music and Rights”) obtaining a Honorary Mention. He has taken courses with masters Manuel Barrueco, Leo Brouwer, Oscar Giglia, Álvaro Pierri, David Russel, Juan Carlos Laguna, Gonzalo Salazar and Antonio López.
Thanks to triumphing in the National Guitar Concourse (convened by the Laud Players Club of Paracho / Michoacán, and by the University of Rhode Island) he obtains a scholarship to study in said institute. Díaz also received a Stimulus Scholarship as Executant of National Fund of Culture and Arts. He complements his musical formation with courses in Spain, France, at the Chigiana Academy in Siena / Italy and the Mozarteum in Salzburg / Austria and tours through countries like Poland, Turkey, Chile, United States and Mexico.
In 1998 he co-founded Duo Coincidencia with the female guitar player Martha Eugenia Salado.
